UMD Appoints Two New Board Members

June 14, 2012 – Washington, D.C. – The United Macedonian Diaspora (UMD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Lidija Stojkoska and Trajko Papuckoski to serve on the UMD Board of Directors.

Originally from the city of Kavadarci, Macedonia, Lidija Stojkoska is a Business Administration graduate based in the U.S., with a wealth of experience at Certified Public Accountants, in Fresno, California, and in Washington, D.C.  She will take over the role of UMD Treasurer from UMD Co-Founder Denis Manevski, who served in this capacity since 2005.

“As a native of Macedonia, I have been in the United States for some time, far from home, and the experience has taught me to appreciate my heritage and my cultural identity.  By working together with my colleagues at UMD, I hope to give something back to our people, and I thank the UMD Board for giving me this opportunity,” said Stojkoska.

Trajko Papuckoski is a proud Hoosier and earned his Bachelors of Science at Indiana University.  He currently consults independent financial advisers for one of the largest broker-dealers in the nation, based out of Chicago.

“Growing up in Indiana during the 90s, I watched how Greek-American groups controlled the conversation around Macedonia, so I am excited to associate myself with an organization like UMD, which proactively articulates our side of the story to influential policy-makers about why Macedonia matters.  I am confident that the work UMD is doing will help our global Macedonian community to clear the obstacles we still face.  Working with UMD is my way of honoring my ancestors, some of whom died or were jailed in the fight to realize Goce Delcev’s dream of a free and independent Macedonia,” said Papuckoski.

“On behalf of the entire Board, I would like to welcome our two new Board Members to the team, and thank them for contributing towards the well-being and strengthening of our beloved Macedonia and diaspora.  For the Macedonian Cause, the road ahead promises to be just as challenging as the road we have already traveled.  However, I have no doubt that, together with talented and committed patriots like Lidija and Trajko, we will ultimately succeed,” said UMD Board Chairman Stojan Nikolov.
